The mission of the Joint Industry Board (JIB) is
“…to enhance the image, capability and profitability of the industry through the creation of a safe working environment and the utilisation of the required range of operatives skills, up to the highest level and in the most efficient manner, within a regulated structure…”

The JIB sets grading standards for electricians and administers the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) which confirms the levels of competence of properly skilled craftspeople.
